Pomme d'Happy
How many children are there in the group?

Pomme d’Happy is a small childcare centre with a maximum capacity of 15 children. The group is usually smaller, which allows us to get to know each child well and give individual attention to their needs.

Do you offer half-day attendance?

Yes. We offer both full-day and half-day attendance.

A half-day option can be a good choice for younger children, for families who prefer a shorter day, or as part of a more gradual transition into the centre.

How does the settling-in period work?

We do not expect every child to settle in in the same way or within the same amount of time.

We discuss a suitable transition plan with parents in advance, but remain flexible and adjust it according to the child’s reactions and needs. At the beginning, a parent may stay for a short while, and visits can start gradually with shorter days.

For us, it is more important for the child to build a calm and trusting relationship with the setting and the people in it than to follow the same approach for everyone.

Is an afternoon nap compulsory?

No. Afternoon naps are for children who need them.

We do not force every child to sleep or expect everyone to follow the same routine. For children who do not sleep, we provide books, creative activities, and other quiet options. When the day’s organisation allows, we also use this time for additional activities with the older children.

Does my child need to know French or English beforehand?

No. Children do not need any prior knowledge of French or English.

They experience both languages naturally through games, songs, books, conversations, and everyday situations. We support understanding with gestures, images, repetition, and context, without testing or putting pressure on a child to speak before they feel ready.

Does my child need to be out of nappies?

No. We welcome children from 18 months of age and do not expect every child to be out of nappies already.

We take a calm approach to toilet learning and follow the child’s readiness as well as the family’s approach. When the process of moving away from nappies begins, we believe it is important to work closely together with parents.

Do the children go outside every day?

We aim for the children to spend time outdoors almost every day, whenever the weather allows.

We have our own garden where they can play, move freely, observe nature, and notice the changing seasons. When the weather keeps us indoors, the children can still move and play in their favourite “sports room”.
